Close minded people suck

I can't help to notice how close minded the community is in which I live. They not only (still) fight widescreen viewing like it's the plague, but it's also carried over to subtitled movies. The reluctancy was most recently seen with the release of last week's Pan's Labyrinth and this week's Letters from Iwo Jima. And, these are double whammy titles, since they're not only foreign, but widescreen only. It's just too bad that people would pass up watching a great movie because they have to read it or because it wasn't "formatted to fit their screen." Some folks here still can't let go of their VCR and think that DVD is the devil. Hopefully, by year's end, fullscreen will be almost non-existent. This has to happen if the studios want to get high definition formats into the mainstream. And, it would help if primetime TV would start phasing in more shows in widescreen. I just give a big BOOOOOO to all those who still think fullscreen is where it's at, and won't watch foreign movies unless they're english dubbed. You've denied yourself some great cinema and deserve a smack in the chops.

No surprise, gas prices still on the rise

I haven't done a city-to-city comparison, but when gas prices are over $3 a gallon in Hutchinson, KS, I know there's a problem. I received this pic in e-mail the other day, and not sure who the illustrator is, but thanks for providing a great visual of how we all feel.
