Paying Homage to Independents #1: Ryko Distribution has the key to obscure world cinema

I love independent cinema and lost/controversial films from around the world. So, I have to give props where they're due, and want to thank Tony Spinosa, Director of Sales of the Central Region for Ryko Distribution, for helping me discover new films and continuing our business partnership.

Ryko always brings a great slate of monthly releases from Synapse Films, Impulse Pictures, Severin, Blue Underground, Subversive, Cult Epics, No Shame, and Heretic, to name a few, and recently picked up Redemption and Sacrament Films. It's like stepping into a time warp everytime I view these films, as they always take me to another part of the world where the culture and times seemed simpler and carefree. Here's a list of some of their top selling releases, so rent or buy them today!

#1 City of the Living Dead-Lucio Fulci
Deep Red-Dario Argento
Cheeky- Tinto Brass
Perversion Story-Fulci
Dust Devil-Richard Stanley
Eraserhead-David Lynch
Maniac-William Lustig
Don’t Torture a Duckling-Fulci
Love Scenes-Bud Townsend
Immoral Women-Walerian Borowczyk
Numb-Michael Ferris Gibson
#20 Hundra-Matt Cimber

Not that every month isn't noteworthy, but September will hail a larger slate of releases than normal, as Blue Underground continues to re-release titles done previously by Anchor Bay, while continuing to pay homage to horror greats such as Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento. On a side note, I hope they'll soon get the rights to Sergio Martino's Torso and give it a proper treatment too. Here's the highlights, so be ready with wallet OPEN.

Stendhal Syndrome 2-disc (Blue Underground)
Suspiria 2-disc (BU)
Opera (BU)
Cat O' Nine Tails (BU)
Schoolgirl Report #2 (Impulse)
Satan's Baby Doll (Severin)
Malabimba (Severin)
Iron Rose (Redemption)
Hurt (Redemption)
Bitter Sweet (Sacrament)
In the Dark (Sovereign)
In a Day (Indie Pictures)
Black Roses (Synapse)

Happy watching, and thanks again to Tony for feeling my passion for these films and helping me indulge in them.
