Grudge 2: This year's worst horror film

So, my buddy and I went to see The Grudge 2 tonight. This was two hours of shear bordem and I got the nods, while Jesse looked sound asleep a couple of times. I couldn't figure out if I was watching the first Grudge again or not. There were so many flashbacks and similar scenes from the first one, with no real growth to the story, characters, or scare scenes. Yeah, the little boy, and long black-haired chick are a little creepy the first few times, esp. when they pop up unexpectedly, but come on, let's get some differenciation and originality.

Did I miss the fine print on the movie poster or commercial that said, "The Grudge 2: Remake of The Grudge?" It's sad if you have to remake a remake. For those that didn't know, The Grudge is an Americanized rip-off of Ju-on: The Grudge, a Japanese horror film which is much better film than the B.S. PG-13 Sarah Michelle Gellar movie. Just watch the original and see, but don't bellyache about having to read the subtitles; get some culture, jerkyneck. Did you piss and moan when you had to read the English/Aramaic translation in Passion of the Christ? Maybe so, but you knew God was watching, so you kept your mouth shut.

Another American/Japanese remake that blew was Pulse (Kairo). Dark Water was pretty good, and I hear Tale of Two Sisters and The Eye are in the works, just hope they don't butcher them.
I'm still on the fence about Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. Probably need a second watch. My first opinion is that there was too much focus on the chainsaw, granted, it rings true to the title, but lacked insight into the characters and family. Why did they become cannibals, was it just because the slaughterhouse closed? You almost get more character insight by watching TCM 2.

Most anticipated titles: Halloween Prequel (directed by Rob Zombie), Black Christmas remake, Masters of Horror Season 2.

Must-sees not already metioned: Slither, Feast, Rest Stop, Stay Alive, and still, the movie that dominates all of this year's entries is: THE DESCENT. Buy or Rent it, watch it, love it, suggest it to others, and watch it again. Great storyline, dialog, characters, gore, and creepiness.
